About Nicole
Nicole Sundine is an influential speaker and trainer in the field of personal safety, violence prevention and victimization. During her career in victim assistance and law enforcement, she personally witnessed the devastating impact of victimization on individuals as well as society. Everyday interaction with victims and perpetrators and the investigation of countless incidents of harassment, abuse and violence gave Nicole unique insight into the real dangers people face.
In 2006, Nicole created Realistic Safety Solutions, LLC, with the vision of proactively raising awareness about the potential for victimization and teaching her unique personal safety curriculum designed to reduce all forms of victimization.
Education
Nicole holds a degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Criminology and Women's Studies. She has always had a strong interest in human behavior and focused her education accordingly. Relevant coursework involved child, adolescent and adult psychology, sociology, behavioral science, abnormal psychology, multi-cultural issues, women's studies and the psychology of gender. Between her law enforcement training and college coursework, Nicole has received hundreds of hours of education in criminal justice, criminology, criminal behavior and statutory, procedural and juvenile law.
Victim Advocacy
Nicole has been an active advocate for the rights of crime victims for over twenty years. During her career in law enforcement, she held the position of Program Coordinator for the Victim Assistance Unit in the Crimes Against Person's Division of a large metropolitan police department. In this position, she had the opportunity to work with thousands of crime victims and learn about the dynamics that led to their victimization. During her tenure, she also coordinated the Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) program and received extensive training in the dynamics of victimization, crisis intervention, victim rights and the effects of trauma.
Law Enforcement & Criminal Investigations
Through years of officer safety, survival and tactical training, Nicole obtained certification as a personal protection instructor and received specialized training in numerous self defense techniques including: PPCT (Pressure Point Control Tactics), ODF (Offensive Defensive Force), Street Survival, Koga, Edged Weapon Defense and Weapon Retention. Nicole also trained in multiple weapons systems including: Pepper Spray, Taser, Nunchakus, Impact Weapons and Firearms.
As a detective, the focus of Nicole's training and case assignments was "special victims crimes" which included assault, sexual assault, child abuse, domestic violence, stalking and missing persons. She received hundreds of hours of training in investigative strategies, crime scene reconstruction, interview and interrogation and criminal profiling. She also attended multiple training sessions and conferences on missing persons, sexual assault, child abuse, domestic violence and stalking.
In addition to criminal investigations, Nicole was certified to conduct background investigations and integrity interviews on new police officers.
